Raj Pawar
Raj Pawar is currently the Chief Executive Officer/President of PennSummit Tubular LCC. in Hazleton, PA. He purchased the former company, Summit Manufacturing, from bankruptcy and launched PennSummit Tubular LCC., creating local manufacturing jobs for over one hundred employees. In his first year there he grew revenues from 0$ to approximately $15 million and generated a positive bottomline for the company. Clients that PennSummit have served include AT&T Wireless, Sprint PCS and Nextel Wireless; American Transmission Corporation, Tri-State G&T, Excellon, Dominion Power and National Grid and many of the State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) including Florida, Colorado and Delaware.
Prior to his commandeering of PennSummit Tubular, Mr. Pawar was also the Chief Executive Officer of Summit Manufacturing, Inc. – the very company that he purchased from bankruptcy and transformed into PennSummit Tubular – from the years of 1987 to 1998. There, he grew revenues from a startup of $400,000 to approximately $40 million and EBITDA margins in excess of 20% in 10 years through sale to leveraged buyout concern. He also received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 1998 during his time with Summit Manufacturing, and represented Pennsylvania in the National Entrepreneur competition.
Mr. Pawar completed his certification in Industrial Engineering in 1968, at the Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Canada. He founded the Girl’s Polytechnic School in 1994, which is a tuition free school for teenage girls in India. He is a member of the executive Board of Directors for the Northeast Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Council, and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Great Valley Technology Alliance. He currently resides in Quakertown, Pennsylvania with his wife, and is the father of two children, ages 31 and 21.
