Lex Sloot

Alexander (Lex) Sloot is the President and CEO of Printmark Industries Inc. He and his wife Jennifer left their country of birth, South Africa and emigrated to the United States in 1978. Education was all in South Africa including 4 years of college specializing in business, primarily in the field of printing and publishing. In South Africa Jennifer was a school teacher (2nd grade), but does not pursue that vocation in America. Initially Lex and Jennifer lived in Stamford, CT, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1990. They started Printmark Industries in July of 1979. Printmark is now in its 25th year.
Lex designs and develops countless new products every year, and is able to take a product from a thought to a prototype, to production and to the market quickly. He also designs specialized production equipment and is very instrumental in the fabricating of such equipment.
Lex currently holds over 36 U.S. Patents. In addition he has over 15 other Patents Pending. He has also developed over 120 Registered Trade Marks pertaining to Printmark products, processes, literature and other marketing items. Lex is very active in the arts, which includes writing poetry, oil painting, photography and amateur theater acting. He is also an avid classical pianist. He is currently writing a 400 + page book ‘Poetry for Prosperity’ which is almost completed. This is a book on philosophy, psychology and motivation and is all in rhyming poetry. It features some very profound lessons on Life Skills, and will be published mid-2004.
Lex and Jennifer Sloot are actively involved in helping the Local Community. Both Lex and Jennifer serve on the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and are very active in this organization. For a number of years they have personally worked with underprivileged children in the area. Lex serves on the Advisory Committee of Partners In Education (P.I.E.), a non-profit organization which helps to bring Students and the Business Community together. He also participates in the Penn State Mentor Program, where for the past few years 2 - 4 Penn State students have come weekly to Printmark to learn hands-on about business and marketing. Lex serves on the Board of the Rotary Foundation in Hazleton, and on the Board of the Northeast Philharmonic. In 2003 Lex was the Chairperson for fundraising in the Greater Hazleton Area for Junior Achievement.
