Jack St. Pierre

After graduating from Assumption Preparatory School in 1962, Jack St. Pierre was educated at Lowell Technological Institute in Massachusetts and Gannon College in Erie, PA. He spent three summers during college working in the plastics industry for Colt’s Plastics in Connecticut and in 1966, joined Niagara Plastics in Erie as a marketing representative. With assistance from Niagara Plastics, Mr. St. Pierre later returned to Massachusetts to form St.Pierre Associates, manufacturer’s representatives covering the New England states for Niagara and additional manufacturers of industrial components.
Jack later joined Liqui-Box Corporation of Columbus, OH as plant manager of their Massachusetts plastic bottle plant and subsequently accepted similar assignments in their Houston, TX and Baltimore, MD plants. He subsequently handled sales for two start-up plastic bottle companies in Connecticut and New Jersey before founding Pocono P.E.T. Inc. with the help of CAN-DO in 1986. They began in 30,000 square feet of a new multi tenant building in Humboldt Industrial Park producing clear polyester jars for the food packaging industry and we ultimately grew to 123,000 square feet with 85 employees before selling the company to Pretium Packaging of St.Louis in 1998. Pocono P.E.T. Inc pioneered the private label peanut butter jar conversion from glass as well as the salad dressing bottle and mustard and pickle jar conversions. In addition we were the original designer and producer of the snack food industry “barrels” used by most Pennsylvania pretzel bakers.
Mr. St. Pierre retired in 1999, and performed some consulting to the food industry for a time and later entered the personal care industry when a small group built and started-up the Laurels Senior Living Community in Hazleton, which we continue to operate. He also took the CAN BE directorship after the departure of Joe Barrett, having been on the board since inception.
Jack has also been avidly involved in volunteer work and community associations throughout his career. He is a former Little League (15 years), Babe Ruth and youth football coach in the Conyngham valley, and spent 23 years as a Scout leader in four councils. He is a chairman of the Greater Hazleton Civic Partnership Scholarship Committee, the Director of P.E.T. Realty Inc., Assisted Living Solutions LLC, and Corporate Buyers Guide. Also, Prior to CAN-DO employment, Jack was a long time CAN-DO director and committee chair and also a former board member at Hazleton General Hospital, The Legacy Bank and the Pennsylvania Second Mile.
Mr. St. Pierre Resides in Sugarloaf, with his wife, Carol. Together they are the parents of five adult children ranging in age from 36 to 26 and the grandparents of 3 grandchildren ages 7, 5 and 2.
