James Zarra
James Zarra is the Network Engineer at the Wyoming Area School District in Exeter, PA., where he services a network consisting of over 850 workstations and 11 file servers. He also designed and manages the district wide fiber optic SONAT ring.
Prior to his work with the Wyoming Area School District, Mr. Zarra presided in the position of Project Manager at SAMCAR Group LTD., in Pittston, PA., from the years of 1990 to 2002. During his time with SAMCAR he managed various development projects ranging from $250,000 $5,000,000, which included residential and commercial sites. Mr. Zarra also concurrently held the position as Director of Operations and Owner of QRS Corporation, in Exeter, PA., from 1983 to 2001. As Director of Operations he managed QRS Corporation, a third party service company with 25 technicians and engineers. He also directed and implemented marketing strategies and provided technical consultation and project management solutions for the company.
Amidst this busy work schedule spanning almost two decades, Dave Zarra also found time to be the Mayor of Yatesville Borough, Yatesville, PA., from 1989 to 2001. As Mayor he was instrumental in the acquisition of various community development grants, and projects he saw through included a $2.5 million sanitary/sewer project, expansion of a multi-purpose building, and construction of a new playground.
Mr. Zarra graduated from the Johnson Technical Institute of Scranton, PA., in 1983 with an Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology. He was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award and the Biomedical Engineering Award for highest QPA. He then attended the State University of New York, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering – Microprocessors, in 1987.
Other honors Mr. Zarra has received are: being a member of the Class of 2005 Leadership Wilkes-Barre, being named in Strathmore’s Who’s Who of Business Leaders in 1994, being named in the Who’s Who in American Society and Business in 1992, and being named in the Who’s Who in the Computer Industry in 1989. He is presently a member of the Technology Committee of the Great Valley Technology Alliance board of directors.
Mr. Zarra currently resides in Pittston with his family.
